McClung Hall / Administration Building |
Mary Baldwin College, Staunton, Virginia

The original structure was built in 1848 with additional wings constructed in 1856. An excellent example of pre-Civil War construction, it was completed using local materials and craftsmanship. Major structural repairs to both the original building and additions were required due to building settlements. Weather damage over the years necessitated the removal of approximately 60% of the exterior walls of the additions and the jacking up of the existing floors and roof structure. The project involved a true historic restoration with total mechanical and electrical system upgrades, and all work was performed in accordance with guidelines for historic restoration of landmark buildings.
