Virginia | | | | This was a fast-track project located in Roanoke County’s Valley Tech Park. The printing facility is 277,000 square feet with pre-stressed concrete panels and masonry walls. It houses Donnelley’s short-run, four-color book publishing division, using state of the art Heidelberg Harris M600 presses. We teamed with Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern for the design of this project and were able to involve many local subcontractors as well as a national mechanical subcontractor to construct this project. | Phase
I involved the construction of a 74,000 square foot single-story
office and production facility for a glass-fiber cable manufacturing
company. A subsequent fast-track schedule addition, built in
90 days, doubled the size of the facility and was
designed/constructed to enhance production flow and maintain the
environmental conditions necessary for product quality.
Architectural pre-cast concrete wall panels added a clean,

| The
fast-track construction of a 260,000 square foot pre-engineered
distribution center with 30,000 square feet of office space was
started in November, 1990 and was completed in 160 days. Years
later, our firm was asked to construct a 134,000 square foot
addition, which was completed in 2003. The new addition allows
Elizabeth Arden's
Roanoke
facility to house the company's consolidated
U.S.

Leaf Bakery – Multiple

| J.M.
Turner and Company, Inc. constructed this original 77,200 square
foot commercial bakery facility.
The project was conventional construction using pre-cast
concrete walls in the production area and brick veneer in the main
office. It included a
special foundation for a blast freeze process and an 18,000 square
foot cold storage area to accommodate temperatures of (-20) degrees.
Using a fast-track approach, the original project was
completed in 7 months. The first expansion included a 29,927 square
foot production/packaging area, 11,050 square foot low temperature
freezer storage area, 2,700 square foot office addition, and a 2,600
square foot shipping/loading dock. The
next expansion project involved a new 43,277 square foot structural
steel with insulated metal wall panels addition.
Another expansion included a 39,000 square foot freezer and
loading dock, as well as, minor renovations to the existing facility
to efficiently incorporate the latest expansion.
Each project utilized our firm’s hallmark Team-Build
approach and included J.M. Turner & Company developed fast-track
schedules to meet the owner's production schedule requirements. Architect | The
